"Little Prince(ss)" Artwork

Dearest Phoebe,

This is probably one of the many pieces of art work that you did for your class at LPN. We like it very much. According to teacher Shanvyn, your art teacher, it bears resemblance of those drawings that you see from the famous children's novel 'The Little Prince'. Well, there is indeed some similiarities there in terms of the treatment and strokes.

Well done little girl!

Luv,
Mummy

Phoebe's first Meet-the-parent session @ Mindchamps

Dearest Phoebe

We had our first Meet-the-Parent session with your teachers in Mindchamps. Generally we were happy to see that you were rather comfortable with your teachers and before we left the house, you even brought along a little artwork and gave it to Ms Jennifer, the centre manager as a gift. Ms Jennifer used to be your form teacher before she was promoted and we could see that you are reallly comfortable with her around.

On the whole, the teachers commented that you are doing very well academically. The teachers even thought you attended academic-type of enrichment on weekends which could explain why you are pretty advanced in your cognitive ability. You also have a good grasp of grammar and concepts and are able to understand past tense and present tense rather well now.

However, the teachers would be working on your social behaviour and they noticed that you are rather passive and reserved. When you are unhappy, you tend to walk away from issues rather than expressing how you feel. This is something that we need to reinforce too at home. At one point Mummy teared a little when Ms jennifer commented that on the second day of your ride on the school van back home, the vehicle came very very late, you were rather unnerving and looked rather worried. Ms Jennifer had to assure you that everything was ok. When Mummy heard that, it feels lousy that we were not there to comfort you in times like that. Guess thats really the deep bonding that mummy has with you.

Here's a nice scrapbook which the school did for every child. Seeing the bright sparkles in your face was probably an assurance for Mummy and Daddy that the money was well spent :-))
Hope you will continue to find joy and happiness in your learning journey.

Luv,
Mummy

New Enrichment

Dearest Phoebe,

Mummy has taken you to greater challenge at the third quarter of the year; we decided to expose you to music and art. Music kind of came on impulse after reading after Min Lee, the prodigy who went on to play at the international stage at a young age, who recently set up a violin school. We do not expect you to be gifted in music, but be able to pursue music as a hobby. For art, it came naturally as you have always been interested in drawing and painting.

Have fun, little girl.

Luv,
Mummy

大姐姐

Dearest Phoebe,

Recently, you have this little obsession with being called the Big sister. Even in school, you would go into a little meltdown if your teachers addressed you as a little girl. Not sure how it came from but it was actually a good way for us to make you more well behaved if you want to be called a big sister.

In addition, you have also requested to keep your hair long. From a toddler who used to don nothing but t-shirt and tights, you don't seem to mind wearing skirts and putting on hair bands now even.

Stay pretty, my dear.

P/s: This photo was taken at Esplanade where we watched some performances.

Little host

Dearest Phoebe,

Ever since we moved, we have been hosting quite a few gatherings and parties on almost every weekends for immediate family members and close friends. So far, you have been a rather good host and daddy's friend even commented you are an "angel". It may be too flattering a term since we have seen a fair share of your tantrums. Nonentheless, we do feel that you have matured a lot over the last few months especially in your mannerism and your ability to comprehend certain issues and holding a conversation with adults.

Here is a nice slideshow of you and baby Jonas whom you seem to enjoy playing with when Uncle Chee Leong and family popped over on a weekend. Out of the blue, you went looking for your swimsuit and wanted to go for a swim. According to Auntie Sereen, you went "Swimming costume - check, goggles - check, towel - check." Silly girl. By the way, Baby Jonas is such a lovely boy and how he ran about to and fro the living to your study room. He is a constant reminder of how you were when you were 13-month old.

Luv you,
Mummy

Change

Dearest Phoebe,

the only constant in life is change or so I have read. In late 2009, there were a spate of changes in our household.
Relocation to a new home, transfer of your childcare centre for you, plus a change of your caregiver to your paternal grandmother. In a nutshell, kudos to your adaptability and resilience!

Amidst the whirlwind of changes, there is probably still a constant in your life, our family and how we go about being
one everyday.

PS: In the photo below, you were smiling away while you tucked into your chocolate gelato. How you enjoyed
your chocolate and ice cream!

Be good and smile pretty,
Daddy Dearest
